| A very warm welcome and friendly atmosphere awaits you at the Abercorn, a large Victorian family home on the East side of the city. Abercorn is 10 minutes by car, 7 minutes by train and 15 minutes via bus every 10 minutes to the city.  Abercorn is our only guest house. Its a large former Victorian Manse built in 1870 in Portobello, and retaining many original victorian features, lovely high ceilings, original cornicing, wooden shutters and Victorian fireplaces. Abercorn is also set in beautiful large private walled gardens (perfect for sitting in the afternoon with a glass of wine or whiskey!!). We have plenty of free parking. Two minutes walk outside Abercorn and you are on to a lovely sandy beach, shops and restaurants are all 5 minutes walking. We have a variety of well proportioned elegant rooms with a host of extra little touches to make your stay with us even more enjoyable. We pride ourselves in making our guests stay as relaxed and easy as possible. This may mean providing an early or later breakfast, booking in advance taxis, restaurant or theatre tickets or merely helping with any questions you any have. All this we view as part of our helpful service and the reason guests return time after time.  |
Accommodation  We have single, double, triple, and a large family room which can accommodate up to five persons. The rooms, all different are tastefully furnished, are warm and clean with colour television, trouser press, tea/coffee, biscuits, radios, hairdryers and more thoughtful touches. All rooms are en-suite and cleaned to a high standard daily.  |

 Breakfast Menu Starters Fresh fruit juices and a selection of yogurt, cereals, grapefruit, fruit salad, porridge or kippers. Followed with traditional Scottish breakfast: Bacon, sausage, black pudding, egg (scrambled, fried or poached) with mushrooms and a choice of tomatoes or beans, served with white or brown toast and a selection of mixed rolls. All served with fresh ground coffee, espresso coffee, selection of teas or hot chocolate. Special diets can be catered for. |
| Location Our guest house is situated in Joppa, Portobello 3.5 miles east of Princes St in Edinburgh City Centre, approximately ten minutes by car, fifteen minutes by bus. The buses stop outside the guests house every fifteen minutes going back to the city. The Portobello beach is lovely and is two minutes walk also many shops and restaurants are within five minutes walking. We also have plenty free parking outside the establishment or free off street parking. |
| How to find us Edinburgh airport - Take airport bus to city centre. Go to Marks and Spencers and catch any of the following bus numbers to bring you directly to Abercorn terrace, 15, 26, 85, 86, 15a. Ask the driver to stop at St Phillips Church on Abercorn terrace. It is then only short walk back to the Abercorn guests house which is on the opposite (South) side of the street. Directions by car On the Edinburgh bypass (A720), drive east following signs for A1 Berwick-Upon-Tweed until you get to "Old Craighall roundabout" (on the A1). Now turn left onto the A1 following signs for Edinburgh. After about 1 mile you come to another roundabout with ASDA on your left.Go straight over and you come up to another roundabout. Turn right here onto Milton Rd East (signed Joppa and Mussleburgh) turn immediately left and continue to the bottom of Brunstane road. Turn left here and you will see our sign a short distance along this street on the left hand side. From anywhere Alternatively go to Portobello High Street going East with sea on your left you will leave all the shops and come to Abercorn park (Daisy Park) continue past this and we are situated on the right hand side. |
