| Self Catering in The Tallet The Tallet (an old Somerset word for a hayloft) is adjacent to the farmhouse. It was converted in 1995 from a bakehouse and hayloft, to a comfortable, well-equipped holiday home. It is available for weekly holidays all year, and for short breaks outside school holidays. If you have a stressful job and need a break, or you wish to celebrate a special anniversary away from the world, yet within 2 hours drive of London, this is the perfect place to unwind. We have been careful to preserve many original features including flagstone flooring, a stone staircase, the original oven door and an inglenook fireplace in which there is now an oil 'real flame' stove to provide central heating and hot water. WiFi Internet Access is available in The Tallet. |

| The back door opens onto a stone terrace, with picnic table, and the walled garden, where you can while away the hours in fine weather. If the weather is inclement, then curl up in front of the fire with a book, challenge someone to one of the board games from the cupboard, or watch your favourite video! The Tallet is as 'child friendly' as possible, with stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs, and a cot, travel cot and highchair. ![]() We encourage you to buy local food when you are staying at The Tallet. Before your visit you may like to order food from our local farmer's market site- www.sfmdirect.co.uk - this carries a very wide range of items and the prices are competitive. Usual latest order time via the Farmers market website is 8am on Tuesday morning for delivery for delivery on Thursday but this may vary at Christmas and Easter so please check at the time of ordering, especially if you are buying perishable items. If you put a note to indicate that you will be staying at Clanville Manor, they will deliver to the farmhouse and we shall make sure that it is ready in your fridge or freezer for your arrival. We shall lay a tray of tea and homemade cake for your arrival, and there will also be a small selection of local foods or drink for you to try, depending on the season. In Castle Cary there are good quality butchers, delicatessens and shops including a wonderful store selling home-made dishes and treats to take away - give the cook a holiday too! Further variety is provided by 2 Chinese take aways, 2 fish and chip shops, a Thai restaurant and other pubs and restaurants within the locality. Friends or relatives may like you to visit you for a couple of nights and stay in the farmhouse for B & B. (maybe Grandparents who can babysit)! The kitchen has a full sized oven, a microwave, dishwasher and freezer. A washing machine and tumble dryer are available in the farmhouse utility room. There are two bedrooms upstairs: a double, with a cot, and a children's room with full sized bunk beds. A small bed can also be put into the double room, for a young child. The bathroom has a power shower over a small bath. |
