| Minadab History The Minadab has been a land mark on Devon's beautiful coast for nearly two hundred years and has been popular eating establishment for the past thirty years. It was built in the 1820's as a home for Robert Young who rose to the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy. According to O'Brynes naval directory of 1849 he served with distinction as The Battle of Trafalgar and was honored with the task of carrying the successful news of victory back to the Admiralty in London by Lord Nelson himself. The original cottage was apparently built in the shape of a boat with rooms fore and aft and a rope ladder joining the ground floor to the upper deck, now been replaced with modern stairs! A secret tunnel was also said to of run from the cobbled wine cellar to the beach and it was a means that many years ago, a previous owner returned from sea unexpected and caught his wife with her lover! |
