Nick and Judi Hasell invite you to come and stay in our converted stone barn or farmhouse Bed and Breakfast, situated 5 minutes walk from the Chew Valley Lake, an area of outstanding natural beauty with facilities for trout fishing, bird watching and walking.

We are five minutes drive from the very attractive village of Chew Magna which has pretty cottages, large Georgian houses, a Norman church and high pavements.

The village has 3 pubs, a post office, a well equipped co-op, buutchers, delicatesant, 2 gift/interior design shops and two banks. At the nearby secondary school is a sports centre with facilities for tennis, badminton and squash.

Woodbarn Farm itself has been in the Hasell family for more than 50 years. It is on arable farm and is situated in a peaceful and picturesque position with ponies, and pet cows and cats.

Retail therapy is also in abundance nearby with The Mall at Cribbs Causeway and Clarks Shopping village less than an hour away and a wealth of individual shops in Bath, Bristol and Wells.

We are centrally situated for touring the area. We are 12 miles from Bath, 8 miles from Bristol, 10 miles from Wells, and 20 miles from Weston-super-Mare, Exmoor, the Cotswolds and the Longleat estate are within 1 - 1½ hours drive away.

Bed and Breakfast is provided in the farmhouse.

Come and stay in our comfortable farmhouse and be pampered. There are two guest bedrooms with tea trays. One family room with en suite shower and one double room with en suite bathroom. Children are welcome at reduced rates.

We are open from March - 20th December.

The guests have their own dining room and separate lounge. The house is centrally heated and the lounge has a woodburning stove.

We are inspected annually by Visit Britain and have been awarded 4 Stars Bed and Breakfast. Woodbarn Farm is a non smoking house and sorry we do not accept dogs.

The barn is divided into two units, Denny is situated on the ground floor and The Tallet is an upstairs apartment.

We are inspected anually under the Visit Britain scheme. Denny Cottage has 3 Stars Self Catering and the Tallet has Four Stars Self Catering.

Denny Cottage

This cottage has two bedrooms, sitting room and kitchen/dining room. The double bedroom has an en suite shower room which is designed for use by a wheelchair user.The whole cottage has wide doorways and has ramps at the two external doors.

The twin bedded second bedroom has an extra bed for a third child and a cot is available.The attractive sitting room also has a sofa for extra guests. There is a TV and DVD player. There is a second bathroom with bath and shower.The kitchen is very well equipped and has a washer drier, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. There is a paved area outside the cottage with garden chairs and a lawned area is available for guests.

The Tallet

The Tallet is very similar to Denny Cottage. It has its own side entrance with private patio, parking place and stone steps leading to a small balcony. It has a fully fitted kitchen-diner with washer/drier, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave.

It has a comfortable lounge with explosed stone wall, TV and DVD player. The double bedroom has a king-sized metal bedstead and an en suite shower room. There is also a very attractive twin bedded room and another bathroom with bath and shower.

It sleeps 4 people and a cot. The Tallet is not suitable for guests with mobility problems as the stone steps are fairly steep.

Both cottages and The Tallet are tastefully decorated with co ordinating fabrics and bedlinen and are equipped to a very high standard. All bedding and towels are provided free of charge. A cot is available.

Part of the garden of the farmhouse is available for guests and tables and chairs are provided.

Heating and electricity costs are included in the rental from May to September but is charged by meter reading from October to April. We regret no smoking or pets are permitted.

Booking conditions

To confirm your booking please pay a deposit of £100. The balance of the rental is due 30 days before the start of the rental period. PLEASE NOTE No reminder of this date will be sent.

Cancellations

We regret that once we have received your deposit it cannot be returned. If you have to cancel your booking up to three weeks before the date of arrival we will return the balance minus 15%, but only if we can relet the cottage. If you cancel less than three weeks before the date of arrival we will not be able to return the balance. We suggest you take out your own cancellation insurance.

Weekly Lets

Change over day is Friday in The Tallet and Saturday in Denny Cottage. Rentals start at 3.30 pm on the start day and run to 10.30am on the leaving day. There is some flexibility on start and finish days particularly out of high season and for late bookings.
