The coastal town of Sidmouth carries a modest population of 15,000. There is an interesting fact about the population, that only 60% of the population is below 65. But this fact doesn't take away the vigor this city has to offer. The primary industry of the town is its tourism. Anyone who is familiar with the world heritage sites can easily tell the importance of the Jurassic Coast and this town offers the opportunity to travel through this acclaimed site.
The one amazing distinction that this town offers is now known by many people who stay in touch with the factual programs, that the town is the host of Donkey Sanctuary. The name says it all. 500 donkeys live in this amazing place.
The association that controls the sanctuary has a very moral ambition of creating awareness about the suffering of the donkeys throughout the world. The admission of a donkey into the sanctuary is straightforward, the association only demands a certificate of fitness and afterward the donkey can get the tender care from the staff.
The Folk Week celebrated every August is surely by any standard a marvelous festival, purely folk in its nature. But over the time locating a sponsor for the event became difficult to a point that the people have to come up with their own consortium. So the event is still celebrated on a modest level as compared to the early times.
