Located next to the National Gallery of Scotland on The Mound, there is the headquarters of the Royal Scottish Academy. |

The 19th century neo-classical building was originally built to house the Royal Society and the Society of Antiquaries, however since 1911 it has been home to the Royal Scottish Academy. Since this time the building has been used as an art gallery displaying works by present and past students, most notably for the annual RSA exhibition held over the summer. But other temporary art exhibitions are also held here throughout the year. The Royal Scottish Academy is open daily from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and from 2pm to 5pm Sundays. Entry to art exhibitions is usually free. |
