Cutty Sark
King William Walk, Greenwich, SE10
Nearest station: Greenwich BR station
This photogenic tea clipper dates from 1869 and in its heyday was the fastest ship on the oceans. Its greatest achievement was sailing between China and London in just 107 days in 1871.
It is also the sole surviving example of the hundreds and hundreds of similar wooden ships that were used to bring tea, spices and other luxuries to London during the 19th century.
Today it is a museum and contains, among other things, various historical naval instruments and an interesting collection of figureheads. It is located in Greenwich, moored next to the Royal Naval College.
The Cutty Sark is open every day, but times vary according to day and season so check opening hours in advance. Admission is around £4.
