Norwood District

SE19, SE25, SE27

This area of south-east London is situated just south of Dulwich and Sydenham. The name is a shortened version of North Wood and refers to an ancient forest that used to cover the district.

The area remained rural and heavily wooded right up until the 19th century when the expansion of London inevitably transformed the district. It soon became a typically residential and suburban area on the outskirts of the city, and today it is still a predominantly residential suburb.
