D H Lawrence, one of England's most famous author's, was born in the village of Eastwood, a few miles to the north-west of Nottingham. | |
It was this house that was Lawrence's home as he grew up in this coal-mining village so typical of the area. Today the house is a museum to Lawrence's life and works. It contains furniture and furnishings that would have been found in a miner's home, along with memorabilia relating to the author. The D H Lawrence Birthplace Museum is open daily but opening hours vary according to the time of year so do check in advance. Admission costs around £2.50 for adults. |
