Nottingham Town Guide, 11K Nottingham is a very confusing city to find your way around in. With a complicated ring road and numerous one-way streets it is easy to get lost, especially if you are driving.

The city's main tourist attractions are spread out over a wide area and so you may find public transport the best way to get around.

The easiest way to get your bearings is to use the Old Market Square as a central reference point.

You can consider this to be the traditional town centre for this is where the town's markets were originally held, and even today this is where Nottingham's Council House and Exchange Buildings are located.

To the south-west of the Old Market Square you will find attractions such as the Castle Museum, the Lace Centre and the Museum of Costume and Textiles.

And to the north of these there is perhaps the most popular of Nottingham's attractions - the Tales of Robin Hood.

To the north-west of the Old Market Square you can visit some interesting buildings such as St Barnabas Cathedral and Nottingham's Albert Hall.

And further north again there is a beautiful area of parkland that is home to Nottingham's Arboretum.

Outside of the city perimeters, there are several other attractions well worth a visit, in particular Newstead Abbey, the DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum and of course Sherwood Forest.
